Mogens Jacobsen, Flora brain -decoded (MJ8)
Pigment Print on Acid Free Kozo paper*
55 x 55 cm
Edition of 6 ex. numbered and signed by the artist
Flora brain-decoded is the result of a collaboration between Mogens Jacobsen and Japanese neuroscientist, Professor Yukiyasu Kamitani.
Kamitani researches how we see images, how we imagine images and how we dream in images. He reconstructs internal images by scanning the activity in the visual cortex while subjects are looking at images or dreaming.
Together, Jacobsen and Kamitani have created this series of reconstructed images of flora where subjects were "mind-read" by scanning their brains while looking at drawings of flowers.
*Kozo is a Japanese paper grade. The paper is made from Kozo (mulberry), a traditional fiber used to make the original Japanese washi paper.
