Mogens Jacobsen

Born 1959 in Rome, Italy.
Lives and works in Copenhagen.

Jacobsen studied Film and Media Studies at the University of Copenhagen. Jacobsen is co-founder of the exhibition platform Artnode (1995) - Denmark's first platform for artistic activity on the web, and a member of the 80s art punk group Cinema Noir. In addition to an extensive exhibition practice at home and abroad, including Kiasma in Finland, ZKM in Germany, FILE in Brazil, NO+CH in China, MAXXI in Italy and Tokyo's Photo Museum, Jacobsen teaches as an external lecturer at IT University in 'experimental speculative design'. Jacobsen has received several awards, including the Niels Wessel Bagge Art Foundation in 2021.

For 30 years, Mogens Jacobsen has worked with digital art with a focus on the aesthetics of systems and processes. An aesthetic that encompasses temporality, responsiveness and algorithms. Despite the digital starting point, his works are often physical and mechanical installations in a mix of contemporary and forgotten technology.
